The Book of Deuteronomy is, in many ways, the most important book within the Torah of Moses. It is one of three books (together with Psalms and Isaiah) most quoted by New Testament authors. It is also one of the three books found in the Dead Sea Scroll collection in Qumran with the greatest number of individual copies. Together with Prof. Pinchas Shir, you will discover never before noticed insights into how the Book of Deuteronomy deals with a number of important New Testament topics and texts.

Together with other students, you will clarify the relationships between 10 commandments and the other (603 remaining) commandments. You will discover how Biblical witnesses work within the structure of this most important for Jewish life book, especially what it has to do with two or three Christ-followers coming together (among other things). Most importantly, you will make significant progress in grasping how to think as an Ancient Hebrew, which is crucial for understanding the original messages of both Deuteronomy and the New Testament.

What a great course. I loved gaining insight into the connections between Deuteronomy and the gospels. It made alot of sense and reinforced the importance of understanding the Jewish background to reading the New Testament. Thank you

all is super-good, as always. I anticipate nothing less after taking so may courses. Thank you Prof. Shir, again for fascinating material to complete what we already are familiar with in Western Christianity. The only thought I have is that a review might be more relevant if completed toward the end of the course rather than so early in the process.

Thank you for making the Word come alive and be a blessing especially during a time when I was suffering the back lash for reporting to my superiors the bad behavior of a work colleague. This person was being disruptive to the extent that those in need of Pastoral support were being neglected and drifting into sin. Things haven't changed yet but at least I am able to keep being a witness.
