Course Info

Apocalyptic books, heavenly visions, future, secrets, and mysteries... How can this not capture our attention?  There are so many questions about the future, the end of days, and ancient Jewish perspectives and beliefs on these matters. The entire Bible can be enhanced through the study of ancient Jewish thinking found in Jewish apocalyptic books.  This course is presented in a seminar style (which was recorded with a live audience).

The course assembles a series of interactive discussions between several of our faculty members: Yeshaya Gruber, Nicholas Schaser, Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg, Pinchas Shir, Tupa Guerra, and Carlos Santos Carretero. The professors engage with selected texts from the Qumran War Scroll, Book of Revelation, Books of Enoch, various Son of Man, and Metatron Traditions, and an array of other interesting ancient texts.

Faculty members even take some questions from the audience as they consider apocalyptic ideas from the past from various vectors.  Instead of a single lecturer, as in most courses, these recordings feature a panel of experts who bring their combined knowledge to reflect on texts as they interact with each other's views and opinions. You will not be disappointed by these insightful conversations!

I'm just drinking in all that is said, so much to learn and going deeper in understanding light versus darkness and the comparison with the Bible, also the NT, amazing! Thank you so much!

Whilst I am well aware (and appreciative) that you seek not to tell us what to think but rather to present relevant material, interact with a variety of historical and current interpretations, and then how best to incorporate (where applicable) this into our Biblical repertoire, I feel that this presentation could have been significantly improved by providing a concise "concluding statement."
