Dr. Adele Berlin (Professor Emerita, University of Maryland) is a past president of the Society of Biblical Literature. She has published pathbreaking research on the Hebrew Bible and other literature of the Ancient Near East, including The Dynamics of Biblical Parallelism, Poetics and Interpretation of Biblical Narrative, and commentaries on Esther, Lamentations, and other books of the Bible. She is co-editor (with Marc Brettler) of The Jewish Study Bible and is currently working on a commentary on Psalms. Dr. Berlin shares her insights on such remarkable Biblical themes as wine and women, comedy and tragedy, metaphor and identity, and more.
