Dr. Sophia Isaac was born in Urmia, Iran, and moved to the United States a few years prior to the 1979 Iranian Revolution. A Christian Assyrian who speaks the Eastern dialect of Aramaic, Dr. Isaac studies populations living in diaspora and their intercultural issues. She is currently vice president of the Arizona chapter of the Seyfo Center, an international non-profit organization advocating for awareness of the Assyrian genocide of 1915. Dr. Isaac is currently writing a book about her experiences entitled Straddled Between Two Cultures: A Personal Journey.
