Paul and Antagonism in Rome
April 9, 2021 - 21:36 | Ep. 15
Professor Shir joins us this week to examine Paul's theology, specifically what Paul thinks about the Gospel and the Torah in the Roman world. We examine two different epistles and talk about how understanding these seemingly contradictory letters depends completely on context.
Episode Notes
Paul's letters to Rome and to Galatia were written for two different communities who had different ideas about how gentiles belonged to the Jewish church. Geography mattered, but so did the social context. This week we focus primarily on Rome and how the antagonism towards the Jews influenced what Paul taught the Roman church.
